The MetLife Building (originally the Pan Am Building), completed in 1963, is one of New York City’s defining modernist skyscrapers. Designed by architect Emery Roth & Sons, with consultation from Walter Gropius (Bauhaus founder) and Pietro Belluschi, the tower bridges International Style modernism with corporate monumentality.
